Cher makes an unecpected appearance
CHER | The singer and actress, 76, made a surprise cameo on the runway for the Balmain spring/summer 2023 show’s finale on Wednesday. On Thursday, she attended the Rick Owens show.
In addition to a black zip-up sweater and leather fingerless gloves, the “Believe” singer sported a black and white plaid skirt and matching pants.
She wore hefty black platform shoes and an asymmetrical velvet fedora hat with a big bow on the side to complete the rock-and-roll-inspired ensemble. The latter was placed atop Cher’s long, blonde, wavy hair.
The day before, Cher appeared on the runway in a dark, futuristic spandex outfit that had black platform boots to go with her trademark long, dark hair.
According to a video of the event posted by WWD, she was encouraged by bystanders as her 1998 song “Strong Enough” played over the speakers.
Cher waved to the crowd while singing along to her song and going arm-in-arm and hand-in-hand with the 37-year-old creative director of the label, Olivier Rousteing.
Cher tweeted her reflections on the experience after the show.
She tweeted in all uppercase, “Had the nicest time on stage. It felt wonderful, and the fashion show was arguably the best one ever.
The models, she continued, were “[beauties] from another dimension,” and Rousteing’s clothing was “to die for.”
Along with other She-like avatars, including a head-exploding emoji, she added, “[The] stage was calling me, ‘Cher… oh Cher… come home…'” “I understand,”
According to WWD, more than 100 models walked the runway for the show at the Stade Jean-Bouin in Paris, including Ashley Graham and Kristen McMenamy. Kylie Jenner, who was wearing a daring crocheted Balmain outfit, was among those in attendance at the colossal stadium show.
According to Rousteing, “She has been a fearless pioneer, a true trailblazer, for over six decades, never slowing down and always drawing us along with her, as she fearlessly marches forward.”
